The phase between the three gluon and one photon amplitudes in quarkonium decays

چکیده
The phase between three-gluon and one-photon amplitudes in ψ(2S) and ψ(3770) decays is analyzed. 1 Motivations It has been known that in J/ψ decays, the three gluon amplitude a3g and one-photon amplitude aγ are orthogonal for the decay modes 10 (90◦) [1], 1−0− (106 ± 10)◦ [2], 0−0− (89.6 ± 9.9)◦ [3], 1−1− (138± 37)◦ [4] and NN (89± 15)◦ [5]. J. M. Gérard and J. Weyers [6] augued that this large phase follows from the orthogonality of threegluon and one-photon virtual processes. The question arises: is this phase universal for quarkonium decays? How about ψ(2S), ψ(3770) and Υ(nS) decays? 2 Quarkonium produced in electron-positron colliding experiments Recently, more ψ(2S) data has been available. Most of the branching ratios are measured in ee colliding experiments. For these experiments, there are three diagrams [7, 8], as shown in Fig. 1, which contribute to the processes. Although such formulas were written in the early years after J/ψ was discovered, but e

Relative phase between the three-gluon and one-photon amplitudes of the J/ψ decays * Abstract It is shown that the study of the ω − ρ 0 interference pattern in the J/ψ → (ρ 0 + ω)η → π + π − η decay provides evidence for the large (nearly 90 •) relative phase between the isovector one-photon and three-gluon decay amplitudes. In the last few years it has been noted that the single-photon and thr...

متن کاملEffective Lagrangian for Two-photon and Two-gluon Decays of P -wave Heavy Quarkonium χc0,2 and χb0,2 states
In the traditional non-relativistic bound state calculation, the two-photon decay amplitudes of the P -wave χc0,2 and χb0,2 states depend on the derivative of the wave function at the origin which can only be obtained from potential models. However by neglecting the relative quark momenta, the decay amplitude can be written as the matrix element of a local heavy quark field operator which could...
متن کاملLong-distance final-state interactions and J/ψ decay
To understand the short versus long-distance final-state interactions, we have performed a detailed amplitude analysis for the two-body decay J/ψ → 10. The current data favor a large relative phase nearly 90 between the three-gluon and the one-photon decay amplitudes. The source of the phase is apparently the long-distance final-state interaction. Nothing anomalous is found in the magnitudes of...
